A charming former school house situated in the Poitou - Charente countryside, offering a warm welcome and comfortable stay in a peaceful village with all facilities close by.
The main house offers 3 comfortable ensuite bedrooms. Set in the old walled playground the garden and terrace offer a peaceful setting to relax and where evening meal can be served on request. Being situated on the Charente, Vienne and Deux sevre borders, this is the ideal place to stay. With it’s gentle climate and varied coutryside it is a gateway to exploring this beautiful and charming region of France. In nearby Lezay there is a bustling traditional market every Tuesday morning where you can sample local farm produce and wines including Pineau, goats cheese and blackened cheese tart, which are 3 specialities of this area. You can also find in Lezay a beautiful park and lake as well as swimming pool, tennis courts and horse riding.
All Bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms:- 2 with full bath & shower facilities, 1 has a hydro - massage shower cubicle. The bedrooms are all equipped with electric heaters, ceiling fans to keep you cool in the summer and help keep the warmth in in the winter, CD/Radio alarm clocks, TV & DVD players and tea & coffee making facilities. The bed & breakfast has it's own front door, separate from the owners, so you have private access to come & go without worry about the time!. There is also plenty of parking on site. We are open all year round. With special rates in low seasons, so please enquire. We don't accept animals in the B & B rooms. This is a non smoking establishment. The guest dining room is available for your use with books and board games provided. Each morning you will be served with a Continental breakfast in the dining room or in the garden. Dinner is also available on request at time of booking ( or you can book for that evening at breakfast time! ). In the grounds there is a children's play area, sand pit and boules court. Under the shade of the 200 year old Horse Chestnut tree is the old school swing. There is also a small selection of outdoor games and toys available. The many plum, nectarine, cherry and apple trees offer an abundance of fruit and you are welcome to taste, if the season is right! For those travelling with young children we can provide travel cot & linen, highchair, pushchair or buggy, car seats ( ages 1-4 yrs) & booster seats. Stroll through the town centre following the red, blue and yellow markings that link the most prestigious historic buildings. Also home of the famous 'Futuroscope' theme park.
NIORT
An historic town on the banks of the Sèvre Niortaise River, you can walk into the old town following the Dragon de la rue de Niort, where 2 bronze dragons line the route to the old round tower and church of Notre Dame.
LA ROCHELLE
A beautiful historic sea port where you can hire a yellow bicycle to explore the architectural heritage and sample speciality foods and wines, visit museums and not forgetting the magnificent aquarium. Also take a cruise to visit the neighbouring islands and Fort Boyard.
